Welcome to the Junior League of Oakland-East Bay, Inc.!
The Junior League of Oakland-East Bay, Inc. is a member of the Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc., which is comprised of 293 Junior Leagues in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom. The thousands of women who belong to Junior League are women around the world serving as catalysts for lasting community change.
Our mission is to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women and improve our community through the provision of trained volunteers and leaders. Founded in 1935, the members of the Junior League of Oakland-East Bay, Inc. (JLOEB) have contributed over seven million volunteer service hours and three million dollars to the community. In addition, we have launched six non-profit organizations that continue to serve our community today:
- East Bay Children’s Theatre
- Junior Center of Art and Science
- The Volunteer Center of Contra Costa (now Volunteer Center of the East Bay)
- The Oakland Volunteer Bureau (now Volunteer Center of the East Bay)
- Family Stress Center (now STAND! for Families Free of Violence)
- Super Stars Literacy
Last year, our membership selected Family Self Sufficiency as our dedicated impact area. This means that our work within the community, our advocacy, and training will align with local issues around food, housing, jobs, and clothing for East Bay families. The Junior League of Oakland East Bay, Inc. envisions an East Bay where food, clothing, housing and jobs are plentiful—creating a community where families are self-sufficient and thrive. It’s an exciting time to be part of JLOEB!
We look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event and hope to have an opportunity to tell you more about our wonderful organization and its meaningful work.
Warmest Regards,![]()
