LAFAYETTE, CA.
– Nov. 8, 2005 –The
Junior League of Oakland-East Bay, Inc. (JLOEB) is proud to announce its Second
Annual Artful Living Home Tour.
In partnership with Diablo Magazine, the JLOEB will offer a
special holiday themed tour of five beautiful homes in Alamo, Diablo and
Danville. Proceeds from the Tour benefit JLOEB’s community projects,
which focus on Children at Risk, including the award-winning Super
Stars Literacy Project at Hoover Elementary School in West Oakland.
Artful Living
Home Tour 2005 begins Friday, December 2nd and continues through Saturday,
December 3rd, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
Tickets for the Artful
Living Home Tour 2005 are $35 per person in advance and $40 on the days of
the event. Tickets can be purchased online at www.jloeb.org; by contacting the League office
at 925.284.3740; or by visiting one of the following
Empire Realty Associates locations: 380
Diablo Road in Danville, or 1614 Mt. Diablo Boulevard in Walnut Creek.
“What is truly inspiring about the Artful Living Home Tour is that every
year people can visit different cities and experience how homeowners are
integrating art and architecture.” said Dinah MacFarlane, Artful Living Home Tour Co-Chair, JLOEB. “As visitors drive through
the neighborhoods on the Tour, we hope to inspire them as well as help them
discover the common thread that ties these communities together.” This year the tour represents an eclectic
selection of architectural styles, and will surprise guests with festive
holiday décor, as well as with a special bonus home which will be revealed
during the actual tour.
Prior to unveiling the
architecturally rich and diverse line-up of homes, the JLOEB will host the Artful
Living Home Tour Kick-off Party on Thursday, December 1st from 6 p.m. to 9
p.m. at the Temple
Isaiah, 3800 Mt. Diablo Boulevard in Lafayette. KTVU Weekend
News anchor, Sara Sidner, will open the event, and all proceeds benefit
JLOEB’s community programs serving Children at Risk. Guests will enjoy live music and a silent auction, indulge
in fantastic wines, feast on hors d’oeuvres and fine desserts prepared by Barbara Llewellyn Catering, and mingle with the homeowners,
architects and designers amidst special holiday décor. Tickets for this
pre-tour event are $45 per person in advance or $50 at the door and include all
food and beverages.
The Tour event requires both
walking shoes and driving, but is worth the price of admission as it represents a truly diverse selection of architectural
styles. The featured homes include: an
inviting residence which harmoniously blends craftsman detailing and farmhouse
warmth; a recently completed New England-style home showcasing classic East
Coast sensibilities; a charming French country home with custom touches ranging
from a hand-blown glass sink, a 1920’s fireplace mantel once housed in a San
Francisco mansion, and vineyard view; a hidden treasure steeped in tradition
with an outdoor setting that can only be rivaled by Versailles; and a
custom-built chateau combining Asian & French décor, which underscores the
owners’ well-traveled life. All details about the bonus sixth home will be
unveiled during the tour.
