Mrs. Gebhardt's term begins on June 1, 2007 and will end on June 30, 2008. For full text of the New President Announcement, visit: http://jloeb.org/media/pr_presidentelectannouncement.htm New Theme for Local League - Selected as the 2006-2007 theme, "Living Our Legacy" encourages League members to effect change and leave a lasting impression on their community. This year, the League celebrates 72 years of making a difference in the Oakland-East Bay community and in the lives of children and their families. Seven decades of women have been passionately inspired to leave this world a better place for our children. We call it "Living our Legacy," and it is working. Since 1935, the JLOEB has contributed more than 7 million volunteer hours and approximately $3 million to efforts aimed at improving the lives of children and their families in Contra Costa and Alameda counties. New Website Launched - The JLOEB unveils it new look this month with a redesigned website. The site offers an efficient design, enhanced content areas including the expanded news room, online calendar and payment options for League events, intelligent navigation, and a streamlined structure which will allow for easier site maintenance and future expansion by the League. Jill Imani, Communications Council Director, who has been leading Marketing Communications Team on the project for the past few months said: "We have a terrific and extremely talented group of women on our team who worked on this project. In addition to giving the website a more modern and cleaner design, our focus was to help our visitors-potential members, donors and sponsors, friends of the League-navigate quickly to their area of interest. In particular, we wanted to underscore more of what the League does and who we help. Through the new site, we can more effectively help people understand the impact of the League on the East Bay community both visually through images and through stories and anecdotes, and connect the public with an easy way to buy tickets to our events which ultimately benefit the League's projects within the community." Popular areas on the Web site such as how to join the league, making donations, volunteer shifts, and special events have been given greater visibility. Be sure to visit and bookmark the new site at www.jloeb.org New Member Class of 2006-2007 Introduced - Known in the East Bay area for the past 72 years as an organization committed to training volunteers and addressing community needs by creating innovative solutions and projects, the JLOEB proudly welcomes its new member class. Sustainer Social and Cocktail Event - On Wednesday, September 27, from 6:30-8:30 pm, the JLOEB Sustainer Council will open the 2006-2007 year with their annual Fall Social and Cocktail Event. Held at a private home in Alamo and open to all JLOEB sustainers and active Board Members, the event will provide an excellent opportunity for sustainers to meet the new council, get involved with fall fundraising events, meet the JLOEB active board, and spend time with new and old friends. For many Junior League members, making the transition from Active status to Sustainer status marks not the end of their dedication to the Junior League and the communities they serve, but instead signals a new chapter in their League career. Sustainers, especially at the JLOEB, remain actively involved in League work, serving as advisors to the Board, stepping in to mentor transfers and active members, work on active committees, act as freelance team members, help staff League projects, and more. According to Sustainer co-council director, Allison Krutulis, "Our sustainers perform vital roles and represent an enormous talent base for the League itself and the communities the JLOEB serves."
