Literacy
Night, 2007
Hoover Elementary
School's Annual Literacy Night on Wednesday March 7th was an
enriching evening for both the students and volunteers.
Hoover Elementary
School Teachers, SSL, and the Oakland Parent Literacy Project,
along with the Junior League volunteers, came together to provide
reading and writing opportunities for the terrific Hoover Students
and their families.
During the
event, 120 students and parents were given several reading activities
to choose from and participate in with their parents and friends,
including a visit with a storyteller. League volunteers helped
with the dinner preparation and set up, worked with the students
in the classroom literacy circles, and helped after the event
to get the classrooms and auditorium back into working order.

to all of the Junior League volunteers who were able to come

Low and her mother- Janet Low, Kimberely Hoidel, and sustainer
Joyce Jackson.
