The Junior League of Oakland-East Bay’s Community Enrichment Fund (CEF) helps to support the critical work of nonprofit and community agencies in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.

We are excited to announce the winners of the Junior League of Oakland-East Bay’s 2023 Community Enrichment Grant.

Community Education Partnerships (CEP) serves students experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. The Summer of STEAM Program aims to provide project-based learning opportunities that engage our students’ curiosity for and interest in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. Our staff and volunteers will host an engaging and challenging STEAM activity at our Children’s Learning Center inside Oakland’s Family Matters Shelter. JLOEB Grant funds will be able to fully provide the ability for the Summer of STEAM participants to have a field trip to the California Academy of Sciences. The Summer of STEAM Program will contribute to the future academic success of children living at the Family Matters Shelter and hopefully inspire their love of learning.

STAND! For Families Free of Violence is the only provider of comprehensive family violence services in Contra Costa County. STAND! operates the the only facility in Contra Costa County, designed specifically for the needs of domestic violence victims and their children, filling a critical gap in community services. Women and children in our co-located Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing residential programs have fled severe, life-threatening violence. Children seen in STAND!’s residential programs have basic needs for shelter, food, clothing, socialization, and education as well as mental health support needs. Our Summer Enrichment Program rounds out our Children’s Services offerings by providing outings and social opportunities during the summer months, providing children with routine and a sense of normalcy — crucial for helping them stabilize and heal from the trauma they have experienced. JLOEB Grant funds will support summer activities include outings to movies, museums, amusement parks (Six Flags), sporting events, Rockin Jump! Concord, and Contra Loma Reservoir in Antioch.
