Letter from our President

Thank you for considering membership in the Junior League of Oakland-East Bay, Inc.  Our mission, simply stated, is to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women and improve our community.  We provide a place to meet incredible women and make life-long friends while, at the same time, offering a place for you to volunteer and develop skills needed to make an impact in the community.

Over the past 75 years, the Junior League of Oakland-East Bay has contributed over seven million volunteer service hours and three million dollars to the community.  In addition, we have launched six non-profit organizations that continue to serve our community today, including the Volunteer Center of the East Bay, Super Stars Literacy, and the Junior Center of Art and Science.

Junior League of Oakland-East Bay is a member of the Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc., comprised of 293 Junior Leagues in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the United Kingdom. The collective power and influence of this group of women, coming together to build better communities across the globe, is phenomenal.

It is difficult to put into words how personally fulfilling it is to answer a community need, enrich the lives of underserved children and their families, and be able to do so in collaboration with smart, engaging and supportive women. The Junior League is without a doubt, a very special and unique organization.

Join us as we kick-off our next 75 years and continue to make a difference in the lives of underserved women and children.  We look forward to meeting you!

Warm regards,

Mackenzie Lesher
President 2010-2011
